What to Expect Working as a Butler in the Middle East
Working as a Butler within a Private Household can be a fantastic long-term career for those who enjoy providing a high level of dedicated service. The responsibilities of a Butler will vary depending on the formality of the house. You will be front of house most of the time and be on hand to assist the family whenever they require. You will often lay the dining table, serving drinks and all meals. You will sometimes assist the housekeeping team with daily cleaning of the property, you will often valet the vehicles, you will often manage the wardrobes. You will sometimes look after a wine cellar or an art collection.
You will need to adapt to each home you work in as the job requirements will vary, and the laws in the Middle East will also require you to adapt from what you might be used to. All of this will be explained before you arrive, and you will have someone you can always ask if you’re unsure.
Each Personal Butler job will be different house to house and the range of duties can be varied and extensive so you must be flexible and willing to do whatever is required of you. Some Butlers are expected to travel with the family. You may be working in a formal white glove household and responding to a bell or you may be in a much more relaxed home where your level of service is professional but personable.
You must be willing to adapt to each house you work in and ensure the family is comfortable in your presence. If you have strong references and good experience then this could be a good position for you. Our butler vacancies in the Middle East will usually be live in positions or based at a compound specifically built for staff.
