We are seeking a highly efficient and detail-oriented House Manager for a prestigious royal family based in London. This is a household that the family uses for approximately four months of the year, but they require a full-time House Manager to maintain the household at the highest level of excellence throughout the year. The Principal has high standards and expectations, so we are looking for a candidate who is dedicated, hardworking, and proactive in ensuring the smooth running of the household. As the House Manager, your duties will include overseeing all aspects of the household, including housekeeping, maintenance, and security. You will be responsible for managing staff, maintaining inventory and supplies, managing budgets, and coordinating with outside contractors as needed. The Principal expects the house to be kept to the highest standards of cleanliness, organisation, and presentation at all times. We are seeking a candidate who has extensive experience in managing high-end households and is accustomed to working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to lead and motivate staff effectively, and be able to multitask and prioritise competing demands. You should have an eye for detail and be able to work to tight deadlines while maintaining the highest standards. Candidates must be based in the UK and have the right to live and work in the country. We are seeking someone who is committed to a long-term role and is able to build a strong and positive relationship with the family.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring that the household is maintained to the highest standard of cleanliness, organisation, and presentation at all times.
  • Coordinating with the Chief of Staff to ensure that all household activities are carried out smoothly and efficiently.
  • Managing all aspects of household accounts, including online shopping, invoicing, and budgeting.
  • Maintaining accurate records of household stock and inventory, and ensuring that all necessary items are replenished in a timely manner.
  • Managing staff rotas and overseeing the day-to-day management of household staff for approximately 4 months of the year.
  • Liaising with contractors and suppliers as needed to ensure that all household maintenance and repairs are carried out promptly and to a high standard.
  • Overseeing wardrobe management with the housekeeping team, ensuring that clothing and accessories are kept in good condition and properly organised.
  • Welcoming and looking after guests, including coordinating their arrival and departure, providing excellent hospitality, and ensuring that their stay is comfortable and enjoyable.
  • As the House Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that all of these responsibilities are carried out to the highest standard, in line with the Principal's expectations. You should have strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to lead and motivate a team. You should also be a strong communicator, able to build positive relationships with staff, suppliers, and guests alike.
Ideal Candidate
  • Significant experience in managing a high-end household or similar environment, ideally with experience working for a private family or VIP client.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including the Chief of Staff, household staff, and external suppliers and contractors.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to ensure that all household activities are carried out to the highest standard.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach, able to handle changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team of staff to ensure that all household activities are carried out smoothly and efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to build positive relationships with staff, suppliers, and guests, and to communicate effectively with the Principal and other members of the household management team.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively and to ensure that all activities are carried out in a timely and efficient manner.
  • A proactive and positive approach, with a can-do attitude and the ability to think creatively to solve problems and overcome challenges.
